Dear Friends,

I am disappointed to have lost the opportunity to earn your votes for the November election and represent the 62nd District in the Illinois legislature. The Republican party has successfully challenged my right to run for this office based on flaws in the nomination paperwork, what some might term "technicalities" but which were, nevertheless, judged by the appellate court sufficient to deprive us of a choice in the election. (Although theoretically an appeal to the state supreme court would be possible, the appeal process went too slowly and there is inufficient time for further action before the ballots must be available for early voting.) Unfortunately, the incumbent will now run unopposed on the ballot, and will not be required to defend her record or face a fair election.

I want to thank all my wonderful friends and supporters who worked so hard, and who hoped, like I did, that we could make financial responsibility a top priority in Springfield. We will have to hope, instead, that someone else will carry that message now.

Sincerely,

Terry Hall, CPA
Candidate for State Representative
